I had the fortune of participating in the Diwali Maha Yagna at Dallas this year. A well organized event given the huge turnout. If I close my eyes I still remember that evening, vividly.
Given what recently took place in Mumbai, I'd like to remind the importance of Dynamic vs Passive Peace. Gurudev says "If you see, there are very few people who are extremists. Most people who are peace loving are passive and silent. What is needed now is the dynamism of the peaceful people". The whole world needs to wake up NOW, we cannot afford to be passive any more.
The only true Dynamic peace loving person I know is Gurudev. Presenting at a Peace conference in Paris with Imams and Rabi's. If all of us had just 1% of his dynamism, and follow his pathway, perpetual peace is possible.

Extraordinary Guru Empowering Everyone
Sampoorna is a film about Gurudev who has dedicated his life to helping unite the world.
I see Gurudev as the first person in this planet who has embarked in such an extraordinary initiative. Many have embarked on such large scale initiatives, however they limited their work within a particular country or continent, within a particular race or religion, withing a particular community or color. Gurudev's initiatives have touched all the countries in all the continents across all religions and race covering people of all colors and a diverse community. He has started a VIRTUOUS CYLCLE of Global Positive Peace that starts within every individual, and will have an impact for thousands of years -starting this decade.

Colonial Cousin's Composition
When ever I hear this beautiful Song on PEACE by Colonial Cousin's I am reminded of Gurudev - Sri Sri Ravi Shankar (who is back as Krishna, Jesus, Rama, Allah, Buddha - as the GREATEST Teacher in the Planet today) !!
Here is the Lyrics of the Song:
CHORUS: Krishna Ni Bhe Gha-Ni, Baroo !
Krishna Ni Bhe Gha-Ni, Baroo !
Darkness coming around,
And every body fight with the brother
Every body wants control,
Don't hesitate to kill one-another
So come back as Jesus
Come back and save the world
Bless all the future of every boy and girl
Come back as Rama,
Forgive us for what we've done
Come back as Allah,
Come back as anyone
CHORUS: .......
Religion is the reason,
The world is breaking up into pieces
Color of the people,
Keeps us locked in hate please release us
So Come down and help us,
Save all the little ones
They need a teacher,
And you are the only one
We can't rely on,
To build a better world
A world that's for children,
A world that's for everyone
CHORUS:.....
(Interlude)
Time is healer, and time moves on
Time don't wait for any one
So, Tell me you'll be back
But that will take some time
I waiting ////...... (with interlude)
I'm waiting, yeah yeah......
Come back as Jesus
Come back and save the world
We need a teacher,
and You are the only one
Come back as Rama
Forgive us for what we've done
Come back as Allah
Come back for every one.......
(Interlude)

Yagnas Performed for Peace in the Planet
"Path of love does not make you tired. That is a way of joy, singing and dance. It is not a desert. It is valley full of flowers." Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. Gurudev is in Bangalore performing Yagnas, and in his tour in the US, starting mid October, he will also speak at UNESCO on Human Rights.

Care & Concern for Children
As I read through this mornings Washington post, I was concerned and disturbed by the trend in child labor, in India. This is one of the most cruel condition for any child, to go through. 50 cents a day equals roughly Rs 20, which is sheer exploitation, the minimum wage is $2.50. The minimum wage in urban areas are Rs 80 to Rs 200 per day. Given the physical labor involved hear if adults are paid Rs 400 a day ($1 per hour) the parents wont force there children into labor. Approximately Rs 800 to Rs 1000 per day per couple will give them a reasonable Rs 20000 or so per month which can make them afford a decent standard of living? Its totally unbelievable that this sort of exploitation of labor is allowed today, especially amongst construction workers. I do know that things are improving in many other industries. What came to my mind is how Gurudev has a program to save these children and how all of us can help, with direct impact, and increase the number of children under his care from 6000 to 6 million.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's Promise
If I had to promise you something, what would it be ?
I can't promise that you'd always be comfortable……Because comfort brings boredom & discomfort.
I can't promise that all your desires will be fulfilled…Because desires whether fulfilled or unfulfilled bring frustration.
I can't promise that there will always be good times…Because it is the tough times that make us appreciate joy.
I can't promise that you will be rich or famous or powerful…..Because they can all be a pathway to misery.
I can't promise that we will always be together…Because it is separation that makes togetherness so wonderful
Yet, if you are willing to walk with me,
If you are willing to value love over everything elseI promise that this will be the richest & most fulfilling life possible.
I promise your life will be an eternal celebration,
I promise I will cherish you more than a king cherishes his crown.
And I shall love you more than a mother loves her newborn.
If you are willing to walk into my arms,
If you are willing to live in my heart,
You will find the one you have waited for, forever…
You will meet yourself in my arms….I promise….

One Thousand Dancers for the One and Only Sri Sri
Have you seen ONE Thousand Dancers perform in chorus in one stage!! Watch this divine video.. Cant wait for the 3 day july 4th weekend to be in his presence once again at NJ.
Go to Global Gita Conference
At my Dad's 70th B'day event in Maryland 2 weeks back, my Dad's elder brother Dr. P Jayaraman gave us the invite for the FIRST Global Gita event held at NY by Bharatiya Vidhya Bhavan.
And, today I get this email from my sister in law:
Food for thought: CELL PHONE vs. GITA
I wonder what would happen if we treated our Gita like we treat ourcellphone?
What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?
What if we flipped through it several time a day?
What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?
What if we used it to receive messages from the text?
What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it?
What if we gave it to Kids as gifts? What if we used it when we traveled?
What if we used it in case of emergency?
This is something to make you go.....hmm...where is my Gita?
Oh, and one more thing. Unlike our cell phone, we don't have to worry about our Gita being disconnected because Krishna already paid the bill. Makes you stop and think 'where are my priorities? And no dropped calls! ESSENCE OF BHAGVAD GITA.
Whatever has happened, has happened for good.
Whatever is happening, is happening for good.
Whatever is going to happen, it will be for good.
What have you lost for which you cry?
What did you bring with you, which you have lost?
What did you produce, which has destroyed?
You did not bring anything when you were born.
Whatever you have, you have received from Him.
Whatever you will give, you will give to Him.
You came empty handed and you will go the same way.
Whatever is yours today was somebody else's Yesterday and will be somebody else's tomorrow.
SO WHY WORRY UNNECESSARILY?
Change is the law of the universe.

Positive Peace Vs Negative Peace
I came across this quote on "Positive Peace" vs "Negative Peace"
" Negative peace refers to the practices to limit and prevent war and collective violence. We’ll take a very holistic approach to violence because many of the major human rights violations can be considered as forms of violence. More often than not, the response to serious violations is enacted from a negative peace perspective in order to quell the immediate violence. Unfortunately, negative peace practices do not necessarily get at the root causes of the violations nor do they strive for substantive social change. Positive peace is more concerned with establishing life-long and life-enhancing human rights values which are a necessary pre-condition for a culture of peace. Positive peace not only attempts to understand the base causes of violence, but it’s goal is fundamental social transformation".
All of Gurudev's initiatives are for "Positive Peace" - a fundamental social transformation that changes the mind, body and spirit of every human being - touched by him and his programs!!!

GURUDEV Paves the Path to Peace
I am just back from a blissful experience with Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, over the weekend with my family. I had the blessings to be with Gurudev for a few minutes while on an elevator. When majority of individuals (like me) are focusing on their profession, vacations, family, hobbies and other pursuits, Gurudev and AOL (art of living) volunteers who are inspired by Gurudev are on a journey to make this world a better place.
With his blessings I am going to start work on the following 5 tasks starting today;
I had a few blog entries about Gurudev in the past in my blog dedicated to my profession;
However from now on I will compile my thoughts in this dedicated blog and review books on peace (including the impact of technology in peace), which will help me with the right background for the book as well. With the support of my Dad the book will be out by early 2010.
With his blessings I am going to start work on the following 5 tasks starting today;
- Initiate this blog primarily to describe the pathway being paved by Gurudev for Global Peace
- Work on a Book as a coauthor on How Gurudev is paving the path for pervasive peace all over the world that can also prevail (what I call Systemic Change -by changing the minds and outlook of people) - working against all odds with a smile (after doing extensive research and leveraging my Dad's wealth of knowledge in International Affairs)
- Promote AOL classes 1 and 2 and the impact it has on our lives
- Align with the IAHV (international association for human values) Peace initiatives (maybe co-ordinate events and conferences in the future)
- Any additional voluntary work that will be needed moving forward.
